15 & Proud

2009 November 6

If one has followed me since my blogging journey began in 2007, he or she may know that my birthday is November 7. Well, tomorrow is November 7. I’ll be turning fifteen. A multiple of five. I love numbers that are multiples of five. I don’t know why, I just do, so I’m super excited about tomorrow. I’m fifteen and flourishing.

For my fifteenth birthday, my dad, mom, sister, three friends of mine, and I are going to a city near the NC/SC border, called Charlotte. It’s really the closest big city to me, and we go there from time to time. This time, we’re renting an SUV and taking three of my friends with: Tyler, Callan, and Nick. In Charlotte, we’re going to go to a mall first with great stores, unlike the one here in Winston. Then after we kill a few hours, we’re going out to dinner to my favorite restaurant, Buca di Beppo. I love the pizza, pasta, chicken, potatoes, everything on the menu! I also like the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. It’s one of those places where you dress up and shower before going to, but it’s not too super elegant. It’s perfect!

These plans show that I am flourishing as a young man. I’ve really been trying hard in the friend field, and I think I’m doing pretty well. I have three really good friends, and so I’m happy. Of course, Michael would be the first on the birthday attendance sheet, but he can’t make it. Boohoo. I’m also blooming academically as well.

In English, I’ve had to do many writing assignments, from writing a haiku, to writing a sonnet, to doing numerous papers, including a research paper in which is being written at the moment. Whenever I finish a poem or paper, I feel such gratification. After I finish, I read other peoples’ and I get blown away by how much better my writings are. That makes me feel so  happy. Of course, it’s rude to gloat, so instead, I just help others.

I’m not the only person proud of me. My English teacher enjoys me a lot. Just today, when she was checking bibliographies for our research papers, which was a requirement due today, she saw that I sourced an email. She asked, “What is this? An email?” Then, I asked, “Is it okay?” and she just looked at me with a blank stare, as if she was in La-La Land, then she said, “Sorry. Can you repeat your question? I was blown away that you took the initiative to email your author to use in your essay. I’m so glad you took the initiative, Connor. Thank you!” I was so happy with myself as I walked back to my seat.

Still, I please more people than just my English teacher and myself. My parents are impressed with me as well. My report card arrived today for the first quarter. On it: all As. Midterms: As. Everything was As. I’m in virtually all honors classes, and I still achieved As. My parents were very happy to see me succeeding in such difficult classes.

That is all for now, guys.
