Things really do pay off

Ever since last Sunday, I’d been dreading this short, three-day week….because this week was testing. I had two midterms (for my two block classes: world history and English) and two end of quarter exams: math and Spanish.

Well, to start off, let’s just state that I don’t like world history. It’s hard, takes memorization, and is boring. But that is the class that I try my very hardest. It’s payed off. On Monday was my history midterm. It was 120 questions and covered everything from Australopithecine to Akhenaten to the Pax Romana to the crowning of Charlemagne. That test was so difficult. Some of the multiple choice questions’ answers were so similar, I didn’t know what the right answer was for each of those types of questions.

I got a ninety-eight. I about had a heart attack when I heard that because I was expecting a low B, perhaps a C because that exam was so hard.

Even more surprising is my average in the class. Ninety-five. I was speechless after I found out. Something funny also happened. This one girl, Lunetia, asked what my midterm grade was. I said ninety-eight. She was amazed. Then she asked how I studied. I replied by saying that I didn’t study at all. She asked how I got a high grade. I then replied by saying, “For every three pages in the textbook, I write about three pages of notes. Front and back.” Then she gave me this incredulous look and said, “Well dang.” And the conversation was over.

I found out my Spanish exam grade today as well. Ninety-six because I spaced out on my accents in the essay portion.

So basically, I found out that things really pay off when you set your mind to something. I took world history face-to-face, and, well, I passed the semester with a big, fat A.

    Congrats ;D
On Tuesday I had my high school orientation. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!
We met our buddies in the morning, then had a tour around the school. My cousin goes to the same school, so their friends requested me… After about 20 mins of waiting in the queue for the canteen (the line stretches out 2 blocks… O_o), recess was over and we were split up into groups and sent to a class. I was put in drama, and it was soooooo fun!! We played games, and the teacher we had gave out chocolates, but unfortunately she didn’t have any that day :(

    Only 6 weeks, 1 day until I’m freeeeeeeeeeeeee (can’t wait until HS :D :D:D)

haha, awesomee. i’m glad you had a good time.

Kran & Connor, it makes three of us ^.^
I leave absolutely everything to the last minute, and don’t study for anything, yet I still get 90-100% on my tests. Earlier in the year students from years 3, 5, 7 & 9 were tested and compared to the rest of Australia. In literacy and numeracy I got one of the highest rankings and other things like writing I got in the 8th sector out of a possible 9 :D

I am sooooooo tired -.- I just came back from New Norcia with my class and there were so many flies there was like a ratio of 10 to 1 :O! I got 6 hours sleep… I was the last to get up, and I woke up at 5:20am… and we weren’t supposed to get up until 6 :( My friends took pics of me while I was sleeping and threatened to put it on Facebook or something unless I got up. The bus ride back was two hours, and most of te time I talked and mucked around with the guy sitting behind me ^.^ He’s really funny 8P

    Bleh. I’m going to bed.
    Goodnight.

nice going! I hope you had a good time and you get some rest. ;) when I went to D.C. in march with some of the 8th grade, we were forced to wake up at 6 every morning from a phone call from one of the teachers and they got so mad because my roommates and i stayed up til 3am and couldn’t get up. it was pretty much miserable there. leaving the warm cozy bed in a hotel to walking around in sub-freezing weather. woot.
